High-res
Okay. I actually enjoyed this film. The Myth of the American Sleepover is from a first time director and all the teens are first time actors. All of them are unknown. It’s set in Detroit, Michigan and it’s your typical high school coming of age story of one crazy night of what could, should, might be’s. It’s really slow and quiet, and I will admit that if you can get passed the first 20 minutes it really is a nice indie film. The reviews are all scattered across the board, people say how unrealistic it is, how it has too much sex/drugs/profanity ect, how teenage movies haven’t been the same since John Hughes. But I liked it. I loved the soundtrack and I liked the sort of quietness and how it was shot. Not to mention, these are first time actors, and for first time actors I think they held their own quite nicely. I guess you could say this is another hit or miss movie, you either love it or you hate it. Me, i’ve anticipated this film since I saw it debute at SXSW and i’m really glad it got put on instant play. It’s a perfect film to watch late at night when you’re not ready to sleep or while you’re working on something.
