This is a proud moment for me.
My mom works as an IT director and all the laptop’s i get are from her, and they’re all usually broken. I first majored in Computers, i thought i was just going to build computers from the ground up my entire life. Anyways, i always found it fun take scraps and bits & bobs from other laptops to make a brand new one. Well, her company was selling off old iMac desktops and recycling the ones that were broken. I figured, well, let me see if i can fix it. Granted, i’m only used to PC’s. I dragged this old beast back to my flat and spent a greater 6+ hours in nothing but trial & error. Then, success.
It’s functional, runs beautifully, and it hasn’t shorted out on me (yet). The only thing is i had outdated software (OS X 10.5.8) so i can’t run anything really on it but CS5 and the internet. I’m going to have to order from the apple store and get an updated OS. But anyways, i’m proud of myself for doing this and without giving up. Now i have a new work desktop that i can FINALLY use for editing film and my photography instead of my dinosaur macbook that goes into an asthma attack whenever i upload more than two photographs.
