Currently Reading: “Level Up”

It’s about video games vs medical school, a tale about his brother. His parents (first immigrant Chinese)want him to go to med school and become a doctor. Dennis just wants to play video games—and he might actually be good enough to do it professionally. It’s illustrated by Thien Pham, who does an excellent job. I’m half way through right now and it’s hilarious. It’s one of those stories that creeps up on you and turns into a heart-felt tale. I’ve already been a fan with Yang since his first graphic novel, “American Born Chinese.” It’s a really relatable story, and i guess a coming of age one as well.
