Earth 2 Sketches and detailed descriptions

The comic, which Robinson is launching in May with artist Nicola Scott, will tell the story of heroes first emerging on the alternate Earth. It will focus on heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Flash — but the people wearing those costumes may not be the same as the more familiar heroes on the main DCU Earth. (via newsarama)

*SUPERMAN  Superman is still Clark Kent, albeit with a new twist: the love of his life, Lois Lane, is dead. And according to Editor Pat McCallum, that has a profound effect on the Man of Steel.

“What would you have to do to teach Superman to kill? He’s endured the loss of his home world, and now the Last Son of Krypton must weather the death of his soul mate Lois Lane. Just how far can you bend the Man of Steel before he breaks?” Writer James Robinson echoed that this will be a bit darker than the Superman we know.

*WONDER WOMAN — “Due the events that open the saga of Earth 2, Wonder Woman is already the last Amazon of this world and she is determined to avenge her sisters…at whatever cost,” saidwriter James Robinson.

“How did Wonder Woman come to be the last of the Amazons?” asks editor Pat McCallum. “It’s one of the mysteries we’ll be getting into with the series. While there will be recognizable faces and settings on Earth 2, don’t for a moment think you’re on familiar ground.”

*ROBIN — “Helena Wayne has been taught how to be the perfect Robin,” said James Robinson, writer of Earth 2. “Assured as a detective, fighter, scientist, pilot and all around crime-fighter she’s been groomed by Batman to be the perfect caped manhunter (or should we say manHuntress) when she grows up.”

“Before coming to the main DCU Earth and taking up the mantle of Huntress, Helena Wayne fought crime alongside her father as the Robin to his Batman on Earth 2!” added Worlds’ Finest editor Wil Moss. “But how did she come to be on this Earth? And why did she decide to become Huntress? You’ll get some clues in next week’s Huntress #6, but for the real scoop, pick up  Worlds’ Finest #1!”

*BATMAN — Written by James Robinson and illustrated by Nicola Scott, the exact nature of Earth 2 and its featured cast remain unclear, but Monday’s reveal of Jim Lee’s design for the book’s alternate version of Batman contains some clues, most notably series editor Pat McCallum’s statement that “there is a Wayne under the mask.” (An adult Damian, maybe?)

“Who will Batman kill to save his own daughter? Right out of the gate that should tell you we’re dealing with a different kind of Dark Knight here. More ruthless, dangerous…the costume is familiar and yeah, there is a Wayne under the mask, but we’re looking at a man desperate to save the only family he has left. EARTH 2 is about to become a very bad place to be a bad guy.”

I’m really anticipating when this comic drops, and reading all the interviews that James Robinson is making all across the comic sites is just adding to the excitement. I love Helena’s Robin outfit so much, probably my favorite character design out of the bunch.
