dallasclayton:

TUMBLR GIVEAWAY! This one’s for all my Tumblr friends and followers. You have all been so supportive over the past year and to say thanks I’m going to be giving away a signed copy of my new book The Greatest Writer Alive and a signed original drawing. All you have to do is reblog this video and comment about someone in your life that you think is great! Or maybe someone that you don’t know that you think is doing great things. That way, even if you don’t win you get to tell the world about how great someone/something is, which is important. I’ll pick a winner sometime next week. Share away!

Love, Dallas!

So, Dallas Clayon is somebody I look up to immensely. He’s pretty rad, especially with all his feelings in poetry form. Therefore, i’m all about winning a giveaway that involves a signed copy of his book. As for the entry terms, commenting about somebody in my life’s that great…

He’s not physically in my life, but has been a pretty important part of it. He’s been my best friend ever since I could read, kept me company when nobody wanted to eat with me at lunch, sat with me in my room when I didn’t get asked to prom, and has continued to be one of my most influential best friends even throughout adulthood. He’s kept my imagination thriving, and my continuous need for justice as motivation. So even though we haven’t physically met..

Batman, you’ve been pretty great in my life.

Gamers Discover Two New Planets by Playing a Browser Game

It’s been a banner week for gamers and “doing things that count in the real world.” First, they solve a decades-old scientific AIDS stumper using Foldit, and now, they’ve discovered two new possibly Earth-like planets.
For a couple years now, NASA has been running the Kepler Mission, which gives “citizen scientists” access to photographs taken by the Kepler Space Telescope with the hope that they will discover habitable new planets. Sister site io9 reports that by playing the Kepler Mission’s browser-based game Planet Hunters, citizen scientists have found two new planets outside of our solar system.
The Kepler team at NASA has been overwhelmed with data, and has turned to essentially crowdsourcing the research on the project, which otherwise would require a prohibitive amount of manpower. Behold, the power of gaming! (via)

Sacha Baron Cohen is going to be playing Freddie Mercury

Sacha Baron Cohen has closed a deal to play Queen front man Freddie Mercury in a film that’s being scripted by Peter Morgan for a 2011 production start. The untitled film will be financed by GK Films partners Graham King and Tim Headington, who’ll produce in partnership with Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal’s Tribeca Productions, and Queen Films. Morgan is already working on a script focused on the band’s formative years, leading up to Queen’s appearance at Live Aid in 1985. Queen’s performance is considered one of the rock’s all-time great live concert appearances.
A rights package has been set that includes the band’s tunes, including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions , Another One Bites The Dust and You’re My Best Friend. It is unclear whether Baron Cohen will sing—I’m told he can sing—or whether Mercury’s vocals will be used. Nobody sang like Mercury, so trying to replicate him would be a tall order. These decisions will be made as a director gets hired.

Best choice in casting, ever! I am actually stoked they picked Sasha. Plus, I really think he could win an Oscar if he pulls this off. I can’t wait to see the final product.  High-res
