It’s a Neil Gaiman reading day. “Fortunately, The Milk” illustrated by Skottie Young & Unnatural Creatures.
One of the best graphic novels I have read. I’m incredibly happy its made so many “best of 2011” lists, its worthy of all of them. You are a brilliant man, Craig Thompson. I’m currently reading ‘Habibi’ again on my lunch break.
I just got done reading Jim Henson’s Tale of Sand and I really loved it. Some of your local comic shops might have it (we do washington dc folk) but its in limited quantities. However the paperback is on sale through Amazon, the hardback will be on sale at the end of this month. I suggest you pick it up.
Discovered in the Archives of The Jim Henson Company, Tale of Sand is an original graphic novel adaptation of an unproduced, feature-length screenplay written by Jim Henson and his frequent writing partner, Jerry Juhl. Tale of Sand follows scruffy everyman, Mac, who wakes up in an unfamiliar town, and is chased across the desert of the American Southwest by all manners of man and beast of unimaginable proportions. Produced with the complete supervision of Jim’s daughter, Lisa Henson, Tale of Sand will allow Henson fans to recognize some of the inspirations and set pieces that appeared in later Henson Company productions.
Finally got around to reading “Feynman" tonight. So good, really was a great read. Complete fan of Leland Myrick’s illustrations.
I forgot i own this. I started to unpack some of my other graphic novels and found the Marvel adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. Figured i’d read it again, i think what i loved most about this comic was Mr. Bennet.
I found ‘Trickster: Native American Tales A Graphic Collection’ randomly in the back room today, along with ‘Defiance: Resistance Book 2.’ I remember reading the first Defiance, but we didn’t have that in the store so i’m just going to see if i can still follow along.
Trickster i just got done and it’s a really great graphic novel. It’s twenty Native American tales written by Native writers and drawn by a lot of accomplished artists.
